Just as birth and birthing were reclaimed, we are now reclaiming death and dying, taking some of our power back an participating more fully. The more informed and prepared we are, the easier we can negotiate our way through the process, and the more satisfying the outcomes may be.
Death is a very natural part of our life cycle. Whether it be suddenly or slowly. Our life’s journey to that point is what allows us to be present and open. Pain may be there, but suffering is optional.
To do death well, it takes some sort of awareness. It is the most important journey we will take in our lifetime. We can embrace it, rather than fear it. We can undertake some really practical ways to create a better experience for everyone involved.
