The Natural Death Centre Inc. is a non-profit Incorporated Association located within the Byron Shire, NSW, Australia.
We are actively involved locally with the death and dying process, and are also part of the growing global wave of individuals and organizations who are committed to demystifying and reclaiming death and dying.
The Objectives are:
-
Demystification of Death and the Celebration of Life.
- Participation in an holistic death process through: wellness, illness, dying, death, post death, funeral, body disposal and bereavement.
-
Preparation and dialogue on death & dying as a natural part of our life cycle, for a conscious and compassionate experience.
-
Provision of an holistic approach to death and dying through education, options, considerations, assistance or referral.
-
Environmentally responsible and sustainable methods of body disposal including the establishment of Natural Burial Grounds.
-
Enhancement of existing standards and practices.
-
Creation of supportive networks with individuals, other groups, organizations and industry.
-
Provision of innovative services and products for funeral and burial practices.
Amongst other things, each year we hold Day of the Dead ceremony, on the second sunday in November. This gathering of community, art and ceremony allows people to honour their dead.
I am the founding member of the NDC, and it is a candle burning for those that look for the light.
